CLIENT AFTERCARE GUIDE
Your Hair, More Possibilities.
Follow these simple steps to keep your extensions looking beautiful and performing their best.
WASH
Brush and detangle before shampooing.
Shampoo 1–3 times per week using Salon Council-recommended products.
Gently shampoo downward. Never rub, scrub, twist, or bunch extensions.
Gently clean around and underneath the attachment areas.
Dry shampoo may be used between washes.
CONDITION
Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends only.
Keep conditioner, masks, oils, and leave-in products away from attachments.
For lighter blonde shades, use a recommended deep-conditioning mask 1–2 times per week on lengths and ends.
BRUSH & DRY
Brush at least twice daily with the Council Everyday Brush or an extension-safe brush.
Start at the ends and work upward while supporting the attachment area.
After washing, blot—never rub—with a towel.
Always blow-dry attachment areas completely.
Never sleep with wet or damp extensions.
HEAT & STYLING
Use hot tools only on completely dry hair.
Keep heat at 350°F or below.
Use extra caution with light blonde shades.
Use only extension-safe products recommended by your Salon Council Hair Extension Specialist.
SWIMMING & EXERCISE
Before swimming, apply recommended leave-in conditioner to mid-lengths and ends.
Wear extensions in a loose braid or low ponytail.
Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine or salt water.
Rinse, shampoo, condition, and dry your extensions as soon as possible after swimming.
BEFORE BED
Make sure extensions are completely dry.
Brush thoroughly and wear hair in a loose braid or low ponytail to help prevent tangling.
IMPORTANT
DO NOT pull or tug attachments.
DO NOT apply oils or conditioners to attachment areas.
DO NOT sleep with wet extensions.
DO NOT use excessive heat.
Sunscreen, tanning products, certain oils, chlorine, salt water, and minerals may cause discoloration, especially on lighter extension shades.
Keep all recommended maintenance appointments. If an attachment becomes loose, uncomfortable, or tangled, please contact Salon Council rather than attempting to fix it at home.
For best results, use the professional aftercare products recommended by your Salon Council Hair Extension Specialist.
